Welcome to Considered Clay, my space to explore art, motherhood, and my journey with cancer. It’s where I connect my experiences in words to fully process all I see and feel and have a deeper understanding of my art.

By sharing my reflections, I hope to help you deepen your considerations about your life and experiences.

“A woman is the full circle. Within her is the power to create, nurture, and transform.” ~Diane Mariechild, author

I share two posts each week: a Sunday edition, a casual check-in with studio photos, and an interesting read from my week. I love to read, so I set aside two hours every morning to do so. My main share, every Tuesday, is the juicy stuff of life. It’s where I delve into the tough questions my life presents and the joyful moments of connection that transcend through my art.

I’m exploring it all—from the neatly packed to the messy stuff of life. I hope you’ll come along!

About me

I am a ceramic artist who loves making functional pots, playing with color, and exploring life through clay. Following a rare pancreatic cancer diagnosis and strenuous recovery, I began experiencing color visions during meditation, and my ceramic practice followed along, shifting from production to experimental to process these all-encompassing experiences. The giant swaths of brilliant, undulating, rich color and piercing white light drive my color choices and experimentations. Today, I intricately layer glazes on various stoneware clay bodies to explore portions of my color visions.

My husband, kids, and I recently relocated from the Northeast to Boca Raton, Florida, for warmer weather, sunny skies, and a Waldorf education for our children. I’m a Florida native—my family has been in the state since 1860. I’m so happy to be back. In addition to playing with clay, I love paddleboarding, swimming in the ocean, cooking, and watching my kids play sports. Oh, I also love baseball. I love it so much that I’ve been known to go to Yankee Stadium solo, joining the intelligently snarky New Yorkers cheering on their home team.
